Bearings, Lines of Position, and Fixes

Easy as 1, 2, 3...4

step 1
Take a bearing on a charted object. In the drawing, the church steeple bears about 236 degrees.

step 2
Plot the bearing on the chart. Use a course plotter or parallel ruler to draw the line at 236°. Label this plotted line of position with the time and direction of the bearing.

step 3
Take another bearing on a second object. Plot and label the line of position.

step 4
Plot a fix where the lines of position intersect. That's your position!
